The Planning Department is an essential part of the City of Brownsville. Within its different capacities, this department is charged with:
- Adopting and implementing the Land Use Plan and Land Use Assumptions
- Preparing reports and processing annextion plans
- Assisting in rewriting the Zoning & Subdivision Ordinances
- Providing support to the C.D. Division(such as mapping, Census information,
and guidance)
- Preparing and processing amendments to the Zoning/Subdivision Ordinances and
other ordinances as required
- Providing computer advice for department activities
- Providing expert knowledge on various City issues
- Assisting with the electoral districts and any redistricting
